Isaac Joseph Ainsworth

Isaac Joseph Ainsworth was born at 4:08pm yesterday afternoon, and he is 18 inches long and weighs 5 pounds and 4 ounces.

He is in the NICU on a CPAP breathing mask right now, and will be there until he can breath on his own. He is doing quite well for a preemie his age, he just needs a little bit of help breathing and time to fully develop his lungs.

Surgery went exceptionally well. It took only 38 minutes from start to finish. God was really watching over us - the doctors did not run into any issues delivering the placenta (which was the biggest risk factor). They found my placenta quite fascinating (photo attached), as they were taking pictures of it and showing it to other doctors/nurses when I was in the recovery room. My doctor said that it was even more "impressive" than they could tell from the ultrasound, and far more serious than anyone realized. It was a very good choice to deliver yesterday and not wait any longer.

I am recovering well. Of course my abdomen is quite sore and sensitive, but other than that I feel great. My nurse had me up and out of bed last night to do a lap around the nurses station, and then wheeled me down to see baby Isaac, which was the highlight of my day. Brennen and I are both so excited about our beautiful little son, and we can't wait for everyone to meet him. Since he is in the NICU, we don't have a ton of photos of him, but I knew y'all would like to see  the photos that we do have (attached).

Thanks for all your prayers over the past few months - they have made all the difference. Please continue to pray for Isaac - that his lungs develop and that he gains strength so that he is able to breath and breastfeed soon. I will most likely be discharged from the hospital on Saturday, and Isaac's discharge will just depend on how he is doing. We are taking it all one day at a time and trusting God to continue to keep our family healthy and safe.
